This type of trust is created by a grantor (or settlor) who transfers property to a trustee who then manages the property and possibly distributes assets for the benefit of beneficiaries. A revocable trust may be used for a variety of reasons but the most common reason is to avoid the probate process. As the name implied, it can be revoked.
