March 6, 1906 – March 3, 1959

Lou Costello – known for half of the Abbott and Costello comedy team – passed away 54 years ago today, just days shy of his 53rd birthday, from a heart attack. He was born in New Jersey and went to Hollywood to become an actor in his early 20s. When he failed to find acting work, he moved back east and began working in vaudeville. He eventually met Bud Abbott and they began performing together on the radio, on stage and in the movies.

One of their most famous acts was “Who’s on first?” featured in the film, The Naughty Nineties, which can be seen here.
