Laid to Rest in a Casket for All of Eternity? Not Necessarily. . .

Minnesota statutes do not require an embalming procedure, a casket, or any type of outside burial container. Instead, cemeteries make their own regulations.  So if you prefer to be buried au natural, or in a simple bed sheet, there is a cemetery out there for you.

Keep in mind that many cemeteries, especially in metropolitan areas, do require some sort of outside burial container. However, other cemeteries require nothing more than shrouds, bottomless burial containers or only wooden trays.

So, if you would like to be buried in something other than a standard casket, then do some research and find the cemetery that will meet your wishes.
