It has been 15 years since Sonny Bono died in a ski crash on Heavenly Ski Resort in California. Mr. Bono died at 62 years old. Mr. Bono was a famous singer and television star, most notably from The Sonny and Cher Show. Later in life, he became a United States Congressman, representing a district in Southern California. Mary Bono (now Mary Bono Mack), Mr. Bono’s widow, was elected in a special election to succeed him in Congress after his death.

Mr. Bono was eulogized by his former wife, Cher, and his funeral was a meeting of Hollywood and Washington.1 He died intestate, which caused some problems for Mrs. (Bono) Mack. While Mrs. Mack began to administer Sonny’s estate, a man came forward claiming to be Sonny’s illegitimate child.2 In due time, the man withdrew his claim.3
